The
Minnesota Highway Safety & Research Center is a well maintained, year-round
160-acre facility that has been upgraded on a continuing basis for the past
28 years of program operation. The facility is easily accessible to all
types of vehicles, ranging from snowmobiles and ATV's to the largest semi-trailer
truck. This accessibility is vital to our program, which services a wide
variety of vehicles. A year-round skid pad and specialized vehicles make
skid control training available any time of the year. Year-round programming
is supported by on-site snow and ice removal equipment. Programs at the
Minnesota Highway Safety & Research Center are not cancelled due to
weather. A Special emphasis is placed on working with emergency vehicle
operators during severe weather conditions, due to the nature of their work.
New courses are developed frequently to keep up with the demands of MHSRC
clientele.
A new classroom
facility has recently been added on-site to enable us to better serve our
participants. This new facility offers two large classrooms with the latest
in technology to allow us to train in a comfortable, interactive environment.
The classroom-to-driving
time ratio on programs is normally 1 to 5. The MHSRC offers track rental
options for various organizations and demonstrations such as drug and alcohol
impact on driver performance. The Minnesota Highway Safety & Research
Center is exempt from the DUI law in the state of Minnesota.
