Construction Truck Operator Training (CTOT) Certification
 
 

Behind the Wheel Advanced Techniques -This CTOT class makes the driver aware of the vehicle and operator capabilities and limitations. These objectives are attained using classroom and behind the wheel instructional techniques. The training consists of approximately one hour of classroom instruction and five hours of behind the wheel driving instructions.

  • Backing/Docking
  • Cornering
  • Vehicle Dynamics
  • Evasive Maneuvers
  • Controlled Braking/Steering
  • Serpentine/Skid Control

All construction truck drivers should attend this course.  Companies should send the operators with the vehicles they normally drive on the job.  We recommend two drivers per vehicle. This class is held at the Minnesota Highway Safety and Research Center in St. Cloud. The fee for this course is $216 per driver.  The course is offered to a minimum of 12 students and a maximum of 20.  We recommend that drivers refresh their skills every three years.
